WMG is a global leader in national and international collection and is home to some of the most well-known labels in the record music industry including Asylum, Atlantic, Cordless, Elektra, Nonesuch, Reprise, Rhino, Roadrunner, Sire, Warner Bros., Warner Music Nashville and Word. In addition to its U.S.
WMG along with its subsidiary companies have signed many artist from Plan B a Grime and RnB artist to Linkin park a rock band. One of WMG’s contributory companies is asylum records which take a diverse range of artists with genres including RnB, Hip Hop, Rock, and pop. They have artists from Alesha Dixon to Metal church.

Sony music entertainment is one of the largest entertainment and music businesses in the world. It is owned by Sony Corporation of America
Their wide-ranging variety of artists comprise: Beyonce Knowles, Bow Wow, Britney Spears, Ozzy Ozbourne, Oasis and Pink.

Universal Music Group
Universal Music Group (UMG) is the world’s leading music company and is comprised of two core businesses: recorded music and music publishing. They have a Huge Array of artists such as Alejandro Ferdinaz, Akon and The Pussycat Dolls.
The company establishes, develops, markets and distributes recorded music through a network of subsidiaries, these include Universal Music UK, Decca Broad Way, Island Defjam Music Group and A&M. It has ventures and licensees in 77 countries, such as Germany , Australia , Belgium and Hong Kong and is currently representing 98% of the music market.
One of UMG’s branches is Def Jam Recordings, they include artists such as Justin Beiber, Kanye West and Taio Cruz.
EMI Music
EMI Music is one of the world’s leading music companies, home to some of the most successful and best known recording artists. Through their own companies and network of licensees, they are able to serve their artists, consumers and partners all over the world. Its record labels include Angel, EMI Classics, EMI CMG. The artists included in the record labels are Lilly Allen and Queen. Because of its diverse range of new and old artists it is the fourth largest Company in the Music industry.

Permission
Before we began planning any part of our music video we had to research the label the artist is signed to, Melody Thornton is signed to A&M Records from 2004, the next step was to find the address for the record company and then send them a brief letter discussing our situation and asking for permission of the use of thier video before goin onto any other steps.

I, Jhynel Cowan and my peer Paige Caudy are currently in the progression of completing our A2 media course. In order to do this we are required to produce film and edit a music video to a song of our preference.
We are writing to ask for permission from you to use a song from one of the former Pussycat Dolls (PCD): Melody Thornton and her single “Space”.
We will not be making any profit from the video or use the song as our own as we respect and have taken into consideration the copyright purposes.

Questionaire
We asked 24 students in our A2 Media class to complete our questionaire about the R&B genre of music video's. here are both our questions and results:
1, what type of music video would you like to see? (14 people chose narrative, whilst 10 chose performance)
2, Do you think that it is important for the lyrics to match the on-screen display? (20 answered yes. 4 answered no)
3, In an R&B music video what would you usually expect to see? (The most popular answers consisted of wealth, club scenes, relationships and a good narrative)
4, Do you think characters with a R&B music video are presented in a negative or positive way? ( 12 people answered positive and 12 people also answered negative)
5, What is your favourite feature in a music video? (The most popular answers mentioned the song, story, dance and vibrant colours)

Technologies To Be Used ...
To Create The CD Case
- Adobe Photoshop will be used to edit images and put together our CD case
- The title will be created off of a site on the internet and then edited on Adobe Photoshop
To Create The Promotional Poster
- Adobe Photoshop will be used to edit images. Using Magic wand tool to be specific and the cropping tool and resizing tool to put it in proportion, also blending options will be used to make he background our own.
- The fonts for the title will be from the same website as before and then edited on Adobe Photoshop.
To Create The Actual Music Video
- Apple’s video editing programme Final Cut Pro is the most appropriate video editing programme. It has a lot of different editing functions and tools. You can edit, overlap, kroma key, add transitions, effects and many different motion paths between clips.
Filming
- We will film all of our footage in our video using a range of Canon video camcorders ranging from 8 Mega Pixels all the way to 12 Mega Pixels depending on whether the camera was high definition or not.
- Tripods will be used to hold the cameras in place
- We could also access professional high watt high voltage lights, however for the scenes created outside of school we did the best we could using lamps natural light sources.
